10/21/18 Update

Day 2 of isolation! 19 days left. White blood cell count has dropped to 0.2, so chemotherapy seems to be working as intended. Hopefully all the cancerous cells (blasts) are being killed as well – won’t know for sure until they perform blood marrow biopsy again on day 21 of my hospitalization.

Lorraine stopped by after Church today to visit. A little odd having to talk to her through a glass window barrier with a phone (just like prison I guess), but we still managed to have a good visit.

Started riding the bike today in my room – two, 20-minutes sessions today. Hope to increase tomorrow. Had another platelet transfusion this morning and a slight bloody nose. All part of the program!

It wasn’t pretty, but the Texans won today, and last night our glorious Rockets defended themselves against the scurrilous Lakers! Don’t mess with Texas, Chris Paul or James Hardin!

Blessed to have very supportive family and friends who continuously check in on me and send me supportive messages.

Keep me and my family in your prayers,

Love and Peace,

John L.

Planning to have lunch with “the girls” tomorrow as we iron out any final details on Mom's memorial Saturday. We will miss you, John, and you are always in my prayers. I find myself praying alot these days. Please pray for me as I honor our Mother by giving a short talk about my experiences with her this past year. I cannot imagine isolation and admire your positive outlook and Lorraines love for you. You have your faith, the love of your family and friends and all of our healing prayers.❤

I enjoyed our visit so much. We rarely get a chance in Anniston to just sit down and talk because of all the project activity that is always ongoing. I really admire your strength and positive attitude. I've always have. We miss having you in Anniston. But hopefully time will go by swiftly and we will see you back in Anniston when you are on the other side of this journey. Just know that while you are on this journey that you have a huge group of people cheering you on, giving you support and praying for you and your family!!

Looks like you're covering all your bases, John: getting treatment, job training, exercising, getting ready for prison (glass wall talking)… I suspect you would trade the experience for something else though. Hang in there and we're all pulling for you. By the way, your comment re learning patience, I'm not buying it! Maybe honing your perseverance.
